SANS/ISO 17021-1: 2015 - Conformity assessment - Requirements for bodies
providing audit and certification of management systems
Module 1
OVERVIEW:
This course contains principles and requirements for the competence, consistency and impartiality of bodies providing
audit and certification of all types of management systems and is designed to meet the needs of the SANS/ISO
17021:2015 standard by :
• Providing personnel involved in the auditing of management systems, an in-depth understanding of the
SANS/ISO 17021 requirements, structure and framework.
• Providing an understanding of related normative ISO standards such as 17021-2 ;
ISO 17021-3; SATS 17023; SANS22003 and relevant IAF mandatory documentation
PRE-REQUISITES:
That the attendees are qualified third party auditors or involved with third party auditors and certification bodies
that provide certification to ISO management system standards. Therefore it is not prescriptive of the management
system scheme. (QMS / EMS / OHSAS / FOODS Safety etc)

LEARNING OUTCOMES:
· Understanding the requirements and principles of SANS/ISO 17021-1:2015 and how this should be
implemented in order to provide third party certification services
· Understanding the requirements of related normative ISO and IAF documents
· Understanding the precertification, planning; auditing and certification process requirements
· Understand records requirements and general management system requirements in accordance to
ISO/SANS 17021:2015
· 100% attendance required
MINIMUM PASS MARK: 80% to attain successful completion digital certificate.
