SANS 10216:2010 EVALUATION OF VEHICLE TEST STATIONS
OVERVIEW
The number of tragic accidents experienced by South Africans justifies the stipulation by the Department of
Transport, which requires Vehicle Test Stations to comply with certain regulatory requirements, one of these being
SANS 10216.
Both the Road Traffic Act Authority and the customer need the assurance that the vehicle test station authority
possesses an adequate level of competency, impartiality and integrity. When in compliance with the requirements of
SANS 10216, consistency in vehicle testing and inspection services could be assured on a national basis.
